1) EMAIL SENDING PLATFORM (ESP) - Compatibility
The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 requires that a business accurately reveal who they are and that each email has an opt-out option for the recipient. However, some Email Sending Platforms (ESPs), like MailChimp & Constant Contact, do not accept 3rd Party email lists. They require that the emails added are only those who directly opt-in as a customer (this is a first-person opt-in) or on your website. Some businesses use CRM’s for sending mass emails, but they are not as efficient as ESPs. Be sure to check with your ESP for compatibility. You should never mix names together from a 3rd party and a 1st party email list. Your 1st party list is your customers, your "Gold Standard," and you do not want to contaminate this data! Your 3rd party email list is your prospects, your "future customers," and you only add them to your 1st party list when they become paying customers!
